Who we are
Who we are
SPP is the representative body for a wide range of providers of advice and services to pension schemes, trustees and employers. Our work harnesses the expertise of our membership, striving for a positive impact on pension scheme members, the pensions industry and its stakeholders.
The breadth of our membership profile is a unique strength for the SPP and includes actuaries, lawyers, investment managers, administrators, professional trustees, covenant assessors, consultants and specialists.
We were founded in 1958, as the Society of Pension Consultants, bringing together professionals to positively influence pension policy, support the development of legislation and provide members with access to technical information and insight into key industry policy debates.
In 2014, we renamed as The Society of Pension Professionals, broadening the range of professionals engaged in membership.
SPP is a company limited by guarantee.
Vision, Mission and Values
SPP Vision
A secure retirement for all, supported by a thriving and diverse pensions industry, operating within clear and trusted regulation.
SPP Mission
To deliver value to our members, through education, experience and opportunity to influence; supporting the wider pensions industry, government and associated bodies in delivering an effective operating and regulatory environment.
SPP’s Diversity and Inclusion Statement
The SPP appreciates the value and strength that diversity and inclusion can bring to all organisations.
Within the SPP, we are committed to fostering diversity and creating an inclusive culture, where everyone feels respected, valued for their individuality and able to be their authentic selves. Working collaboratively with others, we believe that the SPP also has an important role in supporting progress on these issues in the pensions industry more broadly.
This is an ongoing journey for all of us and we would sincerely welcome feedback on our work in this area as it develops.
